Spring Seeding
Mr. Keisig: — Thank you, Mr. Speaker. The birds are chirping, the grass is greening, and the weather is warming. Saskatchewan is about to embark on the most significant private investment into our economy. Of course, Mr. Speaker, I’m referring to spring seeding. Our farmers invest billions of private dollars into their operation on an incredibly risky business venture.
Agriculture is the backbone of our economy. It was the main reason people settled here, and past settlers contributed to why people choose to remain here. In incredibly uncertain times, Mr. Speaker, it is reassuring to see farmers in their fields producing food for all of Saskatchewan and the world. The synchronization of farmers, crop input retailers, and equipment repair facilities are truly a miracle to behold. It’s very impressive to see a highly trained workforce accomplish all they can in such a small window of opportunity.
We wish all producers the best of luck, not too many breakdowns, and timely rains. My father always said, Mr. Speaker, a week in the spring means a day in the fall. So work safe, try not to rush, and with mother nature’s help, let’s all hope for a successful growing season. Thank you to all the farmers out there ensuring we all have food on our plates. Thank you, Mr. Speaker.
